It doesn't look like much will change... again

After the 2007-2008 NBA season, The Jazz didn't make any big moves. The only change to the roster was the trade that brough Brevin Knight to Utah (and we all know how well that worked out). I actually thought that the lack of change might be a good thing. I thought that the fact that this group of players had already spent some time together, and had playoff experience together would be an advantage. However, my reasoning was flawed. I have come to realize that the Jazz are still lacking something. (my personal opinion is that we need a strong defensive big man, but who knows...) I was hoping to see a big move during the off-season. Something to get excited about after a disappointing performance towards the end of the regular season and in the playoffs. However, it looks like we may end up with pretty much the same roster again.

Korver has decided not to opt out
Boozer probably won't either
We've made an offer to Millsap (which I pray he takes)

So it's not looking like there will be a blockbuster trade this year. I could be wrong though. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I wish we could dump Andrei Kirilenko. I know he CAN be an outstanding defensive player and he's got some pretty sweet passes up his sleeve but he's just not consistent enough and it's because of his salary that we can't really afford to make a big trade.

And I too hope we keep Milsap!

I was surprised to learn that Korver and Boozer both stayed. I would have guessed that all three players would have opted out. Okur's situation is different than Boozer's in that he has been trying to negotiate an extension of his contract, so that's encouraging but maybe not so encouraging since they haven't agreed on anything yet.

The truth is that there really aren't a lot free agents out there this year. Few if any that would be any better than Korver, Boozer, or Okur so I think it's a good thing that they are staying. A healthy Jazz team wins probably 10 more games and gives us a much better chance in the playoffs.

Our back up point will be better whether it's Maynor or Price or both.

I'm pretty sure the Jazz will keep Millsap since they can match any offer another team gives him. Boozer staying will take up money we could have used for Millsap though.

All the Jazz need to do is find a few veteran big guys to replace Collins and Almond. My biggest worry is keeping Okur.

Nevermind....Okur is staying too. Now my biggest worry is Millsap.
